About me

My Philosophy

My commitment to ecological land care and my passion for community empowerment is what inspires my work as a garden coach.

I believe that even within the urban environment, we have the opportunity to improve the health of our local ecosystem or harm it. Mindful gardening practices can have immense benefits when it comes to caring for the health our gardens, soil and water sheds.

Equally important is community engagement in the garden. When we work together in the garden, we are able to experience the richness of life, share in the joy of seasonal changes and see how our gardening practices are affecting the health of our environment. By sharing our skills and knowledge we enrich one an others lives.
My Story

My work as a garden coach in East Vancouver began back in 2012. This work came out of my love for sustainable land care and my passion for community empowerment via experiential learning.

My career in the horticultural industry began 15 years ago, with my studies of Agroecology at the University of British Columbia. Since then, I have had the great privilege to work in school-based garden education programs, urban farming projects, nursery sales and maintenance, workshop facilitation and landscape maintenance. All of these experiences have given me a unique appreciation for the immense value of learning, growing and sharing together in the garden.

The greatest fulfillment in my work comes from helping people transcend their fears and apprehensions around the how-to's of caring for their garden. By gardening with a mentor you will gain the skills and confidence necessary to care for your garden with ease.

When we are able to understand how to simply and effectively care for our gardens, we are better able to enjoy the therapeutic benefits of our gardens.
